Dedham Historical Society & Museum
“Under History’s Shadow: Suosso’s Lane: A Novel of the Sacco-Vanzetti Case”
Do you like a good story with a strong dose of local history? On Thursday, February 23 the Dedham Historical Society & Museum will host a lecture and book signing with author Robert Knox as he unfolds the story behind his novel Susso’s Lane. The lecture takes place at 7:30 pm at the Dedham Historical Society & Museum auditorium, 612 High Street, Dedham.
In this work of historical fiction, Knox turns back the clock to revisit the controversial trial of Italian immigrants Bartolomeo Vanzetti and Nicola Sacco. The story revolves around a young history teacher who moves into Vanzetti’s former home in Plymouth, Massachusetts, seventy years after the trial. The teacher learns of a letter that might prove Vanzetti’s innocence. But his search for the truth faces obstacles posed by a local conspiracy theorist, the daughter of Vanzetti’s lover, a shady developer, and a fatal fire set during his search of an old Plymouth factory.
Copies of the book will be available at the book signing. Cash and checks only.
Admission: DHS members free; $5 per person for non-members. For more information about the Dedham Historical Society & Museum, please call 781-326-1385 or email info@dedhamhistorical.org.
