The Dedham Historical Society & Museum is hosting "Family History Research Saturday – The Avery Family".
The Avery family arrived in Dedham in 1650 and contributed much to the town and the state. John Avery, Jr. was the first Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth. The legendary Avery Oak was donated to the Dedham Historical Society in 1886. Learn more about the family whose name still looms large in local history. Reservations required.
