Dedham Square Circle partnered with Marcella and Giuseppe Musto, owners of Vincenzo’s Italian Deli & Specialty Store, to install attractive new façade lettering and vinyl lettering in their windows prior to their grand opening earlier this year. The project was funded in part through DSC’s Sign & Façade Improvement Program, which offers assistance to Dedham Square merchants and commercial property owners to make physical improvements to their storefronts and properties.

Welcome Back, Scoop Fans!
At last, the summer solstice has arrived! It’s hard to believe there was still snow on the ground less than 3 months ago. There’s lots going on in the Square for parents seeking stuff to do with their kids now that summer vacation is upon us. From free family movie nights, a fabulous farmers market and a jam-packed summer reading program at the Dedham Public Library, there’s lots of fun in store for all!
Hats Off – Kudos and congratulations to the delegation from Dedham who traveled to Kansas City, Missouri last week to compete for the All-America City title. Though Dedham was not named a winner, it was one of only 26 communities nationwide to be nominated, and the only community from New England, an honor in and of itself. The team of 39 representatives from Dedham included Town Administrator Bill Keegan, several Town Department staff, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen Jim MacDonald, Selectman Mike Butler, retired Youth Commission Director Tom Clinton and a large group of teenagers representing the Youth Commission and the Dedham High School band, among others. Their community pride, hard work and commitment have made us all proud. You are all winners to us!
Farm Fresh – The 4th season of the Dedham Farmers Market kicked off with a bang last week as hundreds of DFM fans flocked to the Square throughout the day to check out the new specialty food vendors and visit their favorite vendors and farms from last season. There were lots of “oohs” and “ahhs” over the mouth-watering baked goods from Swissbakers and several thumbs-up on the grilling and dipping sauces from Burnin’ Love Sauces. Fastachi’s hand roasted nuts; Notting Hall’s loose-leaf tea selection and Still River Winery’s apple ice tea were hugely popular as well. Stop by the market on Wednesdays from noon-6 p.m. in the town’s permit lot on Eastern Avenue. for an amazing array of freshly picked produce, seafood, grass-fed beef and poultry, fresh pasta, cheese and more. Hungry yet?!

Got the App? - Entertaining Diversity’s Teja Arboleda has an App! An iphone application, that is. His “RaceOff” app, now available on iTunes, features a video he produced 10 years ago to demystify the notion that racial categories exist and is used by thousands of schools and colleges around the country. Arboleda's newest live performance program, also aptly named “RaceOff,” will tour colleges around the U.S. starting in the fall.
Celeb Sightings? - Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Owen Wilson in Dedham Square?! Well, sort of. You can see them on the big screen in the two REALLY good films playing at the Dedham Community Theatre right now – “Midnight in Paris,” and “The Tree of Life.”
Of Course They Endorse - Channel 5’s Amalia Barreda was spotted recently walking out of Mocha Java sporting a smile and grasping her favorite coffee concoction. First Congressman Stephen Lynch and now a well known local reporter endorsing our longtime coffee house?! Maybe the Obamas will swing by on the way to the Vineyard in August!
