While the venue is new this year, we guarantee a festive evening full of great food & drink and good company. You’ll see the library in a whole new light – literally! This year’s theme, “Bright Lights, Big Changes” will highlight the big changes coming soon to Dedham Square. Come on down to help us celebrate! Music Notes – This just in! The Joe Brogan Jazz Trio will be playing at DSC’s Fall Party thanks to the Dedham School of Music and Needham Bank. We’re in for a real treat – they are terrific!
Warm Welcome – The Dedham Community Theatre has a familiar face managing its daily operations. Sarah Reynolds, daughter of Dedham Square Circle Chairman and owner of The Blue Bunny, Peter Reynolds, has been named the new general manager of the theatre. Congrats and best wishes to Sarah in her new position.
New Flicks – Two new films open tomorrow night at the Dedham Community Theatre. “Take Shelter”, which got rave reviews at both the Sundance and Cannes Film Festivals, and “The Mill & the Cross” which was given a four-star review by Roger Ebert. Please support our independent theatre – we are the envy of many other towns who wish they had a theatre like ours!
Fall Fun – Dedham Parent Time and the Dedham Community House will host their annual Fall Fair and Open House this Saturday from 10-noon at the Community House, 671 High Street. Bring the family to enjoy the moon bounce, games, crafts, face painting, caramel apples and more and learn about what these two great community organizations have to offer.
Get Crafty – SheepSkate Yarn & Crafts owner Eileen Kelly guarantees she can show you how to make a scarf in just 90 minutes with the new Berroco Link super bulky yarn. Stop in to check out the beautiful hand knit Christmas stockings that can be personalized for you, learn to make something new or drop in to a finishing class. Beginners are always welcome! Souper News – One of our roving Scoop reporters shared that Dedham House of Pizza now serves hot homemade soup daily. Just in time for the chilly weather!
Save the Date – Mark your calendars, the Annual Dedham Square Holiday Stroll and Tree Lighting will be on Friday, December 2nd from 5-9 p.m. The Dedham Square Circle Promotions Committee has been hard at work planning a spectacular celebration to kick off the holiday season. Again this year, Oldies 103 will be joining us as well as jolly St. Nick who will to lead the countdown to the ceremonial lighting of the Town’s Christmas Tree. The evening will be filled with merchant promotions, street performers, free giveaways and lots of old fashioned holiday hoopla. More details to come!
Winter Market – Although the Dedham Farmers Market has ended for the year, you can still get your local food fix at the Dedham Square Country Store every Sunday. You’ll even find some of our outdoor market vendors including Fior D’Italia Pasta, Jordan Bros. Seafood and LemonThyme Farm. Baked goods, produce, seafood, fresh pasta, jams and jellies, honey, “Our Favorite Dressing” sauces and salad dressings. Sundays from 10-2, located next to nest.
Start Shopping! The Dedham Exchange will host a Holiday Open House on Sat. Nov. 5, from 10-5. Handmade ornaments and scarves, holiday cards and advent calendars, gourmet goodies and more. Better Late Than Never – If you see our esteemed State Representative and owner of the Dedham Community Theatre, Rep. Paul McMurtry, be sure to wish him a happy belated birthday. He celebrated his birthday last week!
Oh My Gourd – Have you tried the pumpkin ricotta stuffed shells with candied pecans and fried spinach at Deli After Dark? One word – yum.
PJs and Stories – The Blue Bunny will host a Bedtime Story Time tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. PJ’s encouraged! Enjoy some fun stories and make cool bookmarks. All are welcome. Head back to BB on Saturday afternoon to meet author Kara LaReau and illustrator Scott Magoon from 2-3 p.m. who will be signing copies of their new book: “Otto, the Boy Who Loved Cars”. Kids can make their own “otto-mobiles” and hear the story. Both events are FREE.
Buon Appetito! Spotted having lunch in Vincenzo’s recently were co-founders of the Dedham Square Artist Guild, Kerry Hawkins and Jennifer Barsamian. The dynamic duo sampled some favorite Italian specialties while talking shop. Stop in to Vincenzo’s on Sat. Nov. 12 for a free tasting from 11-2 featuring their new Prosciutto Di Parma, their homemade mozzarella and homemade sausages. Customers are invited to try some of their delicious products and enjoy some Italian music while they taste. Mangia! Mangia!

Leapin’ Lizards! The heartwarming storey of orphan Annie is coming to Dedham Square. Get your tickets for the production of “Annie Jr.” at Fiddlehead Theatre from Dec. 1-4.
