Looking for some hot fun in the summertime? There is A LOT going on in the Square these days. One look at the calendar of events on the Dedham Square Circle website, www.dedhamsquarecircle.org, and you’ll see for yourself. Live music, story times, craft classes, family movie nights, author visits, and, of course, our ever popular weekly Dedham Farmers Market complete with a cool kids’ activity table and 14 farms and specialty food vendors! Grab a frozen treat from Ron’s Ice Cream, catch a new film at the Dedham Community Theatre and check out the summer sales at the Square shops.
Special Story Time - Join in the fun at a special bedtime story time tomorrow night at 6:30 at The Blue Bunny.Peter H. Reynolds will read from his favorite series “Hank the Cowdog,” by John Erickson– a great tale for all ages, preschool and up. FREE, no registration required. PJ’s strongly encouraged!
Live Tunes - Friday night, “Double Play” will perform your favorite cover tunes at Deli After Dark at 8:30 p.m. As always there is no cover charge. While Centre Deli will be closed on Saturdays this summer, rest assured that Deli After Dark will open its doors at 4 p.m.
Extreme Makeover – Exciting plans are in the works for some renovations at two Square spots. Isabella will be expanding its bar area while District Convenience owner Perry Markarios is busy with plans to introduce a whole new store complete with baked goods, a wide selection of hot and cold beverages, beer and wine, and much more. A Mystery to Me - The Friends of the Dedham Public Library present an evening with mystery author Rosemary Harris at the main Library on Monday 7/19 at 7 p.m. Harris will introduce her latest book, "Dead Head,” from the Dirty Business mystery series. Take a Dip – The Dedham Community House is holding community drop-in pool hours on Sunday 7/25 from 10-2 . A great way to check out their beautiful new pool and facilities. Everyone welcome! Drop-in fees: $10 per person or $20 per family.
Calling All Creative Kids! - The Dedham Public Library has organized a fun-filled calendar of free children’s activities this summer. Christmas in July crafts, a puppet show, cupcake decorating, a meeting with “The Loon Lady” and more. Find dates, times and more details at www.library.dedham-ma.gov.
Find Your Family Tree - The Dedham Historical Society offers a personalized research experience with its talented staff to research your genealogy, historic houses or specific historic events in the Dedham area. Dedham Square Glam - Spotted recently in front of “The Breakers” in Newport, RI in chic Maribu attire from head to toe was Dedham Farmers Market manager, Joanna Hamblin. Passersby could have easily mistaken this glam gal for a Hollywood celeb!
Free Family Flick – Save the night of Friday 7/30 to catch a free fun-filled family film under the stars on the front lawn of the Dedham Community House. Bring your family and friends, grab a blanket and some chairs, sit back and enjoy the classic, “Sharktales.” Free refreshments donated by Donahue Real Estate.

Dedham Square Trivia – Only two people got the answer to our last trivia question right, but as Dedham Square Circle Board members, they were ineligible to enter our trivia contest! The leadership position our esteemed State Representative and owner of the Dedham Community Theatre, Paul McMurtry, held while attending Dedham High School was drum major! Maybe with a little coaxing, we could get him to don his old uniform!

T for Two -Cheeky Diva owner Jacqui Getz and longtime pal Bret Michaels, former lead singer of “Poison” and star of “Celebrity Apprentice,” met up recently at the Comcast Center where Michaels was performing. Jacqui is wearing a “Rock Thiz Clothing” tank designed by celebrity tattoo artist “Tattoo Tony,” who she also hung out with that night. Cheeky Diva is the only store on the East coast to carry this clothing line.
