Welcome Back, Scoop Fans!
What a crowd there was at the Opening Day of the third season of the Dedham Farmers Market yesterday! Could it be because of this year’s new offerings such as smoked fish and chowders, grass-fed beef, pasture-raised pork, lamb, goat and poultry, a variety of cheeses, fresh pasta, sauces and mozzarella and fresh live lobsters? Not to mention the locally grown produce, fresh baked breads, seafood, jams, jellies, honey and syrup! An initiative of the Dedham Square Circle, the market will be open every Wednesday from 12-6 p.m. through the Oct. 27.
Flower Power - Next time you’re in the Square, check out the new plantings around the Dedham Square Sign at the corner of Eastern Avenue and Route 1. The sign, which was installed in March as a collaboration among the Dedham Square Circle, Dedham Civic Pride and the town of Dedham, is surrounded by beautiful flowers and shrubbery. What a lovely gateway into our historic downtown!
Celebrity Sighting - Our intrepid Scoop reporter spotted Grammy Award winning singer, Paula Cole (“Where Have All the Cowboys Gone”) in the Square’s own Paradise Cafe last week. Maybe we can convince her to do a live concert in Dedham Square sometime!
