Welcome back, Scoop fans!

Have you made your weekend plans yet? Make sure the Dedham Square Music & Art Festival is on your agenda! Dedham Square Circle, Dedham Community House and Dedham School of Music have teamed up to put on an incredible day of local music and art for all to enjoy.

Throughout the day on Saturday, some of the area’s best musical and artistic talent will perform and showcase their work on the field behind the Dedham Community House. Headlining this year’s event is Dedham’s own Magic Magic. If you haven’t heard this band play, you are in for a treat. They were named as one of the 50 best new bands in the country by The Boston Phoenix and are also a nominee for “Best Local Act” and "Best Song" in The Boston Phoenix/WFNX's Boston Music Poll. Four of the five band members – Brendan Hughes, Dylan Gough, Mike Hlady and John Murphy – are all Dedham High grads.

The day kicks-off at 10 a.m. with a special children’s concert with folk singer/songwriter Maria Sangiolo, winner of the Parents Choice Honors Award. Also performing are Autumn Hollow, Sarah Blacker, Inchicore, Julie Sweeney , Shadwell and Ryan Walsh of Hallelujah the Hills. Going on right before Magic Magic will be Mission Hill, who just recently played the Kiss 108 concert and will be opening for Bon Jovi and Kid Rock at Gillette Stadium in July. Did we mention that Radio 92.9 will be on hand to emcee the event? Food vendors on site, kids’ activities and more. Bring your chairs and blankets and stay all day! Admission is FREE! This is an event everyone will be talking about – don’t miss out!  For the performance schedule, musician bios, list of local artists, parking information and more, visit www.dedhamfestival.org
